End of Season Awards
Congratulations to all of our brilliant members for receiving their awards on Monday night. They are all more than deserved. I think everyone will agree that the evening was a clear success, so once again thanks to our lovely social secretaries for finishing the year in such style. Give it up for Luke Standing and Katinka Troye!

2011/12 Season Review
Fantastar Fantasy League Winners!
It's been a season of ups and downs, highs and lows, player transfers and yellow cards... with the odd controversial point allocation and tactical play we have now come to the end of the fantasy league.
Mens 1st XI make the Semi Finals
A memorable performance this Wednesday from a galvanized Mens First XI sent the team to the Semi Finals of the BUCS South Eastern Conference Cup with a trip to Sheffield on the cards if Essex beat Chichester in the Semi Finals.
The game was a high quality encounter in the first half but the occasion seemed to be too much for some players in the second half as the game turned into an ill-tempered affair.
Essex started brightly and took the lead through Cashel Gleeson after great work from John Wilson in the build-up to release Cash on goal. Essex remained composed after taking the lead and continued to enjoy possession whilst pressing Surrey effectively without the ball.
Cake Sale raises over £150 for Children in Need
Congratulations to all hockey members who baked cakes today for Children in Need and raised over £150! Special mention to Fordy who baked a LOT of cakes for the occasion.
Also, those who got waxed by the Tennis Club today should also be commended for there efforts. I think the highlight (and i'm sure everyone will agree!) was Ingerid epically failing to wax Jack's knee.
Well done to everyone.

Womens 1st XI 2-2 County Wanderers
The 2010-2011 season started on Saturday with the womens 1st XI starting their campaign with a well deserved draw against newly promoted County Wanderers at the University of Essex astro.
With only a weakened team available for this very early fixture, the girls performed really well to come back from a two goal deficit. Of the Essex goals, Kerry scored the first goal with a trademark reverse flick and Helen scored the second from the penalty spot.
Overall a pretty good performance and with training starting soon these matches will soon be turning into wins.
Freshers Week...
It's coming up to that time of the year that everyone has been waiting for - FRESHERS WEEK! This is the most important time of the year for the club as we are looking for new members and trying to portray a good, fun image on campus.
For current members (and for new members that fancy joining in!) here are the themes for the freshers week nights out:
- TRIBAL - Classic theme, this year in turquoise and black
- VIKINGS - We all love our Norwegian social sec, right?
- SMURFS - Get the face paint out for this one.
- WHERE'S WALLY - Stripes, stripes and more stripes.
- TIGHT + BRIGHT - What UEHC do best!
At the moment, the days of each themed social haven't been decided, but this is to give you lots of time to buy all the fancy items that you need so we can look the best on campus.
Wanna have fun? Join hockey!
As the new season approaches, UEHC is looking for new members to join our thriving club. Whether you're a complete beginner, or have played all your life, you'll be welcome at UEHC and we look forward to hearing from you at the start of the academic year.
If you're thinking about joining UEHC as a Fresher or if you're a student at Essex already, you can find us all around campus during Freshers Week wearing turquoise blue t-shirts: on the astro, in the squares or most probably in the bar! If you want to know anything, come and chat to us, we're here to help you settle into life at Essex and hopefully into our club.
Get behind the girls!
The Women's 1XI open up the season on the 18th of September against County Wanderers in Essex Division 1. The Ladies had a superb start to the season last season, remaining unbeaten for over a month, and were in contention for possible promotion until a dip in form left them consolidating a comfortable position in the upper mid table.
This year, under the captaincy of Kerry Jacks and Annie Shayes, the Ladies will no doubt be pushing for promotion and your support on the opening day of the season could make the difference. If you're in and around Colchester, get down and support them!
New season, New kit
The new club kit for the 2010-2011 season was ordered a few weeks ago and is currently in production, ready for the arrival of the new season. The new kit colours will be inversed from previous years, with black being the predominant colour with red trim. The offical club colours are: Black shirt w/ red trim, Black shorts, Black socks w/ red trim.
Members of UEHC who have not ordered will be able to order their own kit for the start of the season courtesy of our kit supplier Tempest, who have created an online shop just for our kit. For under £50 freshers, current students and alumni will be able to order the kit, personalised to order. The kit pack includes a shirt including printed name and number, shorts/skort and socks.
